NIALL HORAN
Niall James Horan was born on the 13th of September 1993 in Mullingar, Count Westmeath, Ireland. He has an older brother named Greg who is four years older than him. Niall went to school at Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar, a boys CBS secondary collage.
Niall’s parent’s split up when he was five years old. Greg Niall’s older brother and Niall lived with his mum for a while. Then they lived between their mum and dad’s houses for a while. Eventually Niall ended up moving in with his dad because he lived in town, so he had a lot more friends and he was a lot more convenient.
“I absolutely hated my first day of school” he said in Dare to Dream. He explained that he was the only one out of his friends who went to his school, so he was scared of being all alone. He also said that he remembers as soon as his mum left he burst into tears. But besides he’s first day and homework, Niall didn’t mind school.
In Niall’s primary school they used to run an annual play, so Niall got into acting and singing from a young age of about 5 or 6. He always used to sing in the Christmas carol service in primary school, and his singing teacher at primary school, Mrs Caulfield suggested that he should try out for the town choir when he was eight. All of Niall’s family, remember him singing everywhere he went.
Niall started playing guitar when he was about 12 years old. A year later he competed in a school talent show singing ‘The man who can’t be moved’ by The Script. Niall’s friend Kieron went with Niall and helped him out. Even though there was no winner for the talent show Niall and Kieron got an article in the local newspaper with lots of good photos.
Niall’s X-Factor audition was “So sick” by Neyo. Niall is the only band member from ’One Direction’ who is Irish. Before he entered UK’s X-Factor in 2010 Niall did gigs around his country including a support act for Lloyd Daniels who was in the X-Factor in 2009. In the competition he had many solos in song including ‘Kids in America’, ‘Viva La Vida’ and ‘All you need is love’.
“I think my earliest ever childhood memory is probably of going on a holiday to New York to visit my auntie when I was four” Niall said. “I also remember going up and down my street on a toy tractor. There weren’t many other kids my age, so it was mostly me, my brother and his friends” he explained. “I also remember when I split my brother’s head with a table tennis bat” Niall added.[3]
